The ice has finally melted across the Kawartha Lakes, and spring is finally here! For 2B Fishing that means the start of the 2025 fishing season and after a long winter we are back and ready to go fishing! Guided trips begin this week. Due to pushing some earlier April trips back to later in the month and into May; we are expecting a busier spring than last season so make sure to book soon if you’d like to fish for crappies, spring pike and early May walleyes.

I’ve been able to fish and check out a few different bodies of water over the past week and both the pike and crappies are starting to fire up in several areas. For the rest of April into May, the bite should only get better. Slower presentations like jerkbaits and twitchbaits have been essential for getting fish to bite since the water is still very cold. However if you are able to pause one of these baits infront of an active crappie or pike they are biting, and biting good! Another factor to our early success is downsizing our baits, particularly for the crappies to present a smaller and less aggressive presentation. When you are getting short striked or the fish aren’t fully eating your lures; this is a great way to turn those nibbles into bites.

My spring schedule is filling up quick. Send me an email and let’s set up a trip for this season! Looking forward to fishin with ya!
